Johns work contemplates landscape as muse and narrative mechanism. From expansive mountain ranges to delicate wildflowers Johns explores the narrative elements of nature. The rugged landscape also becomes a setting for mythical tales. Johns vast landscapes are both contemplative and reverential. The large open spaces within her canvases form dream-like landscapes of an epic fantasy. Both haunting and lyrical, Johns’ delves deep into the sublime of the western high sierra landscape.
