ELIZAH BANKS-KIZZEE

Elizah is a multi-faceted artist who's photographic passion was ignited in middle school, precipitating a path of visual storytelling.

In her early years, she delved into documentary-style photography, where her camera was her constant companion; a silent observer capturing the intimate essence of individuals within the tapestry of their surroundings. Through her lens she had the opportunity to intentionally witness and hold space for the beauty nestled within everyday environments.

Throughout her journey, she was led to explore fragments and pieces - the oft unnoticed narratives hidden within the "ordinary;" an intrigue engendered by the fibers comprising the fabric of space and ephemeral realities.

Elizah later transitioned into the realm of portraiture, where a new, distinct style began to emerge. This one, characterized by a certain intensity, which reflects degrees of the inner depths of those photographed. The images developed a pattern of capturing a sense of reticence and captivating fierceness emanating through the eyes of each subject— a glimpse through the windows, to the soul.

Today, she stands at a creative crossroads, unearthing messages hidden within her; discovering what can be said, and what must. Elizah seeks to viscerally capture the essence of existence through her viewfinder: a vessel for exploration, evolution, and refracted light.
