REMBERT BROWNE

Rembert Browne is a writer from Atlanta. A former staff writer at Grantland and writer-at-large at New York Magazine, he is currently writing his first book (Farrar, Straus, Giroux -- probs 2025) . In 2019, he moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles and in the Summer of 2023 -- after a few years at Twitter and working in television -- moved his writing operation to Inglewood, a dream of a place to both focus on the manuscript and to be surrounded by Black people. For the 2023 Art Walk, he will be turning his studio into a visual representation of the first chapter of his book, set in 2004 -- as Atlanta hip-hop took the baton, as Black culture became predominant, as Barack Obama emerged on the scene, and as Facebook became the attraction for a generation looking to connect and build community.
