NINA DAMAVANDI

Nina Damavandi is a visual artist based in Los Angeles and currently lives in Inglewood where she has a small home-based studio and workshop. She works primarily in drawing, photography, and sculpture, integrating, overlapping, and breaking down each medium to posit a new language for observation and documentation. Each conceptual and visual intersection is a challenge to artistic traditions and the promises of technological invention, innovation, and progress. Her work investigates the ordinary objects that define every corner and edge of human experience and daily life, from automobiles, to furniture, to domestic architecture, to advertising. In her work, design animates daily life and is captured from a street view, in its common, pedestrian, and mundane, beauty. From this vantage, it is possible to understand how fundamentally yet subtly everyday objects and spaces shape experience, unconsciously, and often unknowingly, and yet testify to an enduring and indestructible human spirit.
