About the artist

Louis Dennis was born in the Land of Lincoln in 1960, he moved to Huntington Beach in the 70’s

As a photographer who learned the art in a chemical dark room , photography is his freedom and escapism from daily life. His adopted land, Southern California, provides the ideas for his subject matter. A profound lover of images, he has been dabbling with photography for many years. His approach is simple yet direct in selecting what he photographs and how he chooses to photograph it.

His sources of inspiration are light and contrast. In his searches he finds surprises where they are least expected, like in the body of work; “Behind the View Glass”. The camera has never failed to drive his imagination further, a line created by a slimy visitor, that leaves an elegant memory of its trascourse, provides the line to follow; a line that to a glass cleaner will be seen as a fastidious annoyance (task), turns into an elegant light drawing that can only be captured with the early light of dawn.

Recently his photographs were exhibited online in the ‘Positive Pandemic Experiment’ and published in ‘The Burningword Literary Journal’, ‘The Montana Mouthful’, ‘Fourth River’, ‘The Hopper’ and Glassworks Magazine.
