People of color deserve some color. That's always been my philosophy in making art- using vibrant, dramatic colors that draw the eye while making sure to include people of various races and ethnicities in my work. There is so often a manicured, eurocentric vision of fine art and fantasy. I try my hardest to buck against as I paint and draw in messy, broad strokes. I do not want to disappear into the work , to be so perfect that you can't find the artist's touch : I want viewers to know without a doubt that I, a Black Man from Inglewood, CA, was here.
