About the artist
Susan Amorde is a storyteller. Through her art she connects real-life experiences to the underlying beliefs and values driving our culture.
Amorde is a Los Angeles-based sculptor and artist who also paints, draws, creates mixed media collages and more. She combines materials and media in new ways, such as bronze, found objects and vintage suitcases. A large portion of her work consists of conceptual sculptures metaphorically addressing universal, political, and personal baggage.
Her studio practice and professional worldview are further informed by her past employment at the Getty Museum and Trust, The Frederick Weisman Company and with Artist Ed Ruscha.
Amorde has been exhibiting her works in local and national exhibitions since 2000 at such venues as Museum of Sonoma County, Santa Rosa, CA; Torrance Art Museum, Torrance, CA; San Luis Obispo Museum of Art, San Luis Obispo, CA;
Susan has a BFA from Long Beach State University, Long Beach, CA.
