Michael Massenburg

Michael Massenburg, born in San Diego and raised in South Central Los Angeles, is a prominent artist based in Inglewood, California. Educated at California State University, Long Beach, and Otis College of Art and Design, he began his career at the Watts Towers Arts Center. His work, spans drawing, painting, collage, photography, digital media, and assemblage, often integrating found objects with traditional techniques.

Massenburg has exhibited widely, including at the Dak'Art Biennial in Dakar, Senegal, and has completed public art commissions for Kaiser Permanente, Metro, DCA, and the Kia Forum. His recent project involves the new Intuit Dome in Inglewood. He has received numerous grants and awards, including from the Los Angeles Lakers Youth Foundation, Art Matters Foundation, and the California Arts Council. In 2023, he was honored as a COLA Individual Master Artist by the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs.
