My name is Esaw Boyd, I am a native of Inglewood, Ca, and count my self lucky to see this new burgeoning renaissance in Inglewood, and hope that my art can have some small part in help shaping it. I am classically trained, but I apply my craft without any rules of innate purism. Paint, charcoal, graphite, computer apps like, sketchbook, photoshop, and procreate, these are just a few tools I use to apply my craft. My work is a reflection of both the world that my parents lived in and the ancestors who came before them. There is a rich tapestry of stories that African Americans have, stories of turning thrown out scrapes into sources of life, and strife into hope. In my work I use dozens of techniques and mediums to create a visual gumbo, who’s individual ingredients become impossible to tell, but the unique, finished result is undeniable.
