Da Aie Park

Da Aie Park was born in Korea and graduated from College of Fine Arts, Seoul National University. She moved to the United States in 1978 and now lives in Los Angeles. Park is a studio artist at Angels Gate Cultural Center in San Pedro and has a studio for works on Hanji (Korean paper) in Inglewood, California.

Her minimalist paintings are concerned with the nature of paint, poured and brushed; they show the materials’ reaction to the ground surface to which they are applied. Created in multi-various glazes of pure color, the artist responds to the brilliance of carefully selected hues and the gradual process of applying layers of pigment.

Recently, she began exploring Korean traditional materials and techniques to find traces of her forgotten nature.

TTo date, Park has participated in eleven solo exhibitions and numerous group shows in the United States, Korea, Japan, Germany, Italy, and Thailand.
