I’ve struggled with existential concerns and the search for the meaning of life. This is why my work is emotionally evocative and haunting. Clay’s willingness to be transformed into bold, textured and raw images makes it the perfect medium as a touchstone to the suffering and resilience of the human condition. The tactile sensation of clay creates a language that brings order to chaos and spurs my creative energy. As a metaphor for life my pieces are random, chaotic, unpredictable and awash with discovery and surprise. The viewer must assign their own interpretations and feelings which is why they cannot be looked at for just 10 seconds.
