About the artist

Songs of the Neighborhood

Inglewood streets offer stories that play an important role in my art, which begins with snapshots from my walks and commute. I like to observe the way humans design their spaces and interact with the street. Walking slows down my observations and allows me to record scenes that capture my interest. I often document objects placed by humans in public spaces, both in residential and business areas. These object arrangements contain records of the people who live in the area, elements of stories that serve as inspiration and reference for my drawings. These images offer a compressed narrative of public space, revealing layers of local human history. I am intrigued by the way humans function in public spaces and the way we leave visual fragments as records of time spent there. These drawings function as personal, handwritten correspondence about a particular time and place.
